Getijde Tide - Magdenburg - Golven

Installation with poetry in paraffin, mussels, photos, drawings, ceramic waves and 1156 small boats.

Installation is commissioned by IV Kunstfestival, Maagdenburg with the theme ' Blaue Band, Flussen verbinden'. Ellen creates the image of her own river 'De Schelde' and transposes in this installation.

Ceramic boats: Mother of Pearl glaze inside, on the outside- 'getijde/tide ellenrijk 2004 + women's names'. The names are of women whom Ellen has known.
Boats are often named after unknown women, sometimes the wife of the owner or the skipper. Dutch literature has made several of them famous: Maris stella, Johanna Maria...
