Allegorie van de Kwaadheid

Allegory of Anger

Project commissioned by BoschParade
BoschParade is an annual parade across the canals in the centre of ‘sHertogenbosch, inspired by the work of Hieronymus Bosch. The parade did consist of 25 art projects in various shapes and sizes: visual arts, dance, music and theater.

The works of Hieronymus Bosch are beautiful and fascinating, but also repelling because of the gruesome scenes and especially the nasty facial expressions.
Ellen Rijks ideas about Bosch converge in a boat covered with mother of pearl, drawn by a swimmer. The transparent mother of pearl is like a mirage.
Ellen asked the Ukrainian Sergii Sabakar, honored artist and a connoisseur of Hieronymus Bosch, to make drawings for the inside of the pearl boat, inspired by the mean faces from Bosch.
